Ah, here it is, Summer! Outdoors season for Hubby and me has arrived! Whether it’s Hubby taking his bike up and down the surrounding mountains, me rolling out my Yoga mat beneath my favorite tree in the park or the both of us hiking the trails, having a healthy dose of backup energy stashed away in easy reach is always a good idea. Since I don’t do storebought energy/granola bars on principle, I have made a habit, as you guys might have noticed, of coming up with new energy ball combinations – while also whipping up our favorites, of course – on a very regular basis. That’s why there’s an fruity energy bite to be found in every single one of my chocolate boxes~!
Eeeeek~! According to our weather forecast, Summer is coming… with guns blazing. Of course that little tidbit of info sent me into a pan-swinging frenzy last weekend, to give them one last good twirl before tucking them in for their annual R&R period.
With the heat rolling in from way down south, I couldn’t help but think along the spice-laden lines of the near and middle eastern cuisines and take our last – for now! – (heat) blast into the delicious realm of Persian dishes. When long evenings and fantastic weather come together and the first tell-tale whisps of smoldering embers are wafting through town while an avalanche of dangerously juicy, golden orbs is burying the displays in evey corner of the farmer’s market, Spring is definitely turning into Summer in our parts.
Slowly but surely, this year’s asparagus season is approaching it’s last stretch in our region while, at the same time, Mother Nature is picking up the pace with the temperatures. Ergo: time for a delicious, healthy, pretty and seriously satisfying quick-fix involving the star of the season!
