As you guys may have gathered already, what with the Madeira-inspired dishes piling up in the last couple of weeks, Hubby and I are going back for more. In only about two or three shakes of a lamb’s tail, a plane will take us from Frankfurt Airport to Funchal, Madeira for this year’s getaway to our personal little paradise on earth.

Off The Grid~
It’s time! Tomorrow morning, hubby and I will finally hop on a plane and return to Madeira~! As I’ve mentioned before, this beautiful dot in the Atlantic ocean started to pull us back immediately upon take-off from Funchal airport last year, making the decision in favor of a return-trip a very easy one indeed. Since we’ve enjoyed our last trip so much, we decided to stay on the Island of Eternal Spring, our happy-place, for two weeks, rather than just one. Two weeks to tackle the – probably impossible – task of tying up the loose exploration-threads we left behind last year, to unearth more of the islands countless hidden gems and to do our best to soak up as much of Madeira – the island as well as the wine, of course! – as we can. As you’ve probably guessed by now, I’ll be busy hiking, exploring, watching hubby’s antics with his new camera equip, eating and, in general, enjoying one of mother nature’s masterpieces to its full extent for the next two weeks – too busy to be cooking and writing up a storm for you guys~ Of course, I’ll also be collecting new kitchen-related ideas, to make this two-week break from kitchen- and blog-work worth the wait for you guys, too~!
We’ll be back on the 25th, so the next post is coming your way on the 27th, usual place, usual time~! Until then, to tickle your tastebuds while I’m away, here are some of the dishes last year’s getaway to the “Pearl of the Atlantic Ocean” inspired me to make~
Passionfruit-glazed Tuna Sashimi & Spicy Avocado Bites
Stuffed Duck Breast, Chestnuts and Sour Cherry Chutney
Nougat Mousse & Madeira Cherry Compote
…and my Passionfruit-Infused Balsamic Vinegar in this collection of recipes~
And off we go~! See you guys in two weeks!

Blueberry Truffle & Yoghurt Chocolates
Yes, yes, I know, it’s way too hot for chocolate. Or so the occasional not-so-chocoholics like me might say. Especially since last week’s Raspberry-Chocolate Cheesecake Brownie had enough chocolatey oomph to shut my inner chocolate-craving sweets-demons up for the next couple of months…
NK’s First Anniversary has come~!
Hiya guys~!
I can’t really believe a whole year has passed already, but after a quick confirmation-glance at my calendar, I’m proud to announce:
Exactly one year ago, on March 26, 2016, I hit the “publish” button on Nahdala’s Kitchen~!
And what a year it has been! Filled with countless rounds in the kitchen, delicious meals, some hilarious food-related incidents and lessons and, all in all, a smashin good time! Add to that the shere joy of sharing my adventures with you guys and you’ve got me sitting here, in front of my screen with a huge smile on my face~!
I wanted to use this opportunity to thank you guys for all the support you’ve given me over the past year – and I promise I’ll do my best to keep up and excel at my work for a very long time to come – hopefully, providing you with a source of inspiration, smiles and yumtastic meals~!
Hubby and I both learned and improved a lot during this first year of blog-work – be it in the art of photography hubby has delved into, or in the kitchen-area of things on my part. Some things just take some time to grow into, I guess~ Thanks for bearing with me! Blog-related things to be improved also have become evident, so prepare yourselves for a couple of improvements and changes on NK in the near future~!
For one, I’ll be adding cheat-sheet-style print versions for all recipes. I’ll also try and organize my basic 101’s and the tidbits of foodology scattered throughout my recipes in some form of database or comfort-access category of sorts, to improve on the, as hubby put it, “Readability” of my posts while still providing an easy access to those infos to those of you who would like to know more.
Working out all those things will take me a bit more time than writing up two posts per week would allow, so, for a while, I’ll have to restrain myself – so many yummies to share! ahrg! – and limit my writing-sprees to one post per week. Wednesday’s the day from now on, for both the nerdy gaming personality stuck inside my head and the slightly unhinged rest of myself~
So, to sum it up: Thank you, thank you thank you guys! It’s been one hell of a ride and it’s going to continue for a long and delicious time to come~! Cheers~!
Happy Holidays~
Happy holidays everyone~!
We live in a very open and culturally colorful society, so of course many of us celebrate the various winter holidays this time of the year in a different way. Despite their different names, dates and traditions, they all have one thing in common: they’re a reason to gather and celebrate with families and friends. In Tyria, this wonderful time of celebration and winter’y fun is appropriately called “Wintersday Festival”. All of this season’s joys, condensed into one simple name – ingenious simplicity, that.
Long speech short: celebrate life, eat well, be merry and enjoy the holidays to their full extent! I know, I will~
See you soon!
Hugs, kisses and cheers!
Off the Grid~
Hiya Folks ♥
It’s time! Time for hubby and me to go on vacation~ Starting tomorrow, we will spend a whole week enjoying ourselves on the beautiful island of Madeira, taking in as much of the stunning landscapes, rich history and delicious portugese food as we can possibly manage! So, for once, I will not be adding new recipes on wednesday and the following sunday – time for you guys to catch up and mentally prepare yourselves for the – hopefully…? most likely! – bulging bags of new ideas I will be bringing back home with me~
So, no worries if you don’t see something new pop up here until Oct. 5th – I will be back~!
If, however, you don’t see my Cedri-Lemon Special Part #2 pop up around the usual time… Did you know that the Madeiran Airport is one of the favourite Worst Case Scenarios during Simulator Flight Training for airlines all across the globe? *gulp* No, no. No! I love to fly and a nightmarish runway on stilts cozying up to a huge cliff will not give me the creeps! Huzzah!
See you soon~!

A guide through my head…
…at least through the organized, blog related recipe section of it (I fear other parts might show similarities to an upended sock drawer and scare you guys off…) Here’s a little outline of my idea behind the order of my posts.
Welcome to Nahdala’s Kitchen!
Hi everyone!
My name is Diana, a.k.a Nahdala in several online/virtual worlds. Welcome to my kitchen! I’m one nut short of a fruitcake about two of my favourite things to do – cooking and gaming, so in this kitchen of mine I don’t just cook up a storm every once in a while, I actually get to combine those two – and I’m not talking about having my computer set up in my kitchen.
How could these two possibly be related, you might wonder… I’ll come to that in a bit. Continue reading “Welcome to Nahdala’s Kitchen!”
