When Hubby gave off a somewhat strangled noise, skirting the edge of panic last weekend while giving his weather forecast app a disdainful glare, I knew we were in trouble.
“34°-38°C each day and not much cooler during the night for a week straight… I don’t even want to know how this is going to turn out in August, when it’s actually supposed to be this hot” he said, and went ahead reading reviews of high-powered fans and mobile ACs. I, on the other hand, experienced a sudden pang of panic too, a food-related one rather than a fear of melting in the heat.

Parma Ham-Wrapped Monkfish, Asparagus and Strawberry Vinaigrette
As asparagus season is slowly coming to an end, I thought this would be the perfect time to go big for one last time – at least for this year~ I had planned on cooking up a three-stage asparagus storm that weekend, involving veal and strawberries and all that yummy jazz for you guys, but I got sidetracked – or more precisely: blindsided! – during our usual Saturday-trip to the farmer’s market. To my great surprise, my wary-of-sea-creatures hubby of all people, all but jumped up and down in excitement while pointing the fishmonger’s sign advertising his good deals on monkfish.

GW2 Summery Stuffed Zucchini
Food-related childhood memories can be a serious pain in the… posterior from time to time. If you’ve ever fancied a particular dish as a kid and tried to re-create that gloryfied-by-time-and-memory experience in your kitchen as an adult with nobody to tell you the details about the dish in question, you probably know how infuriatingly frustrating the results can be~!
Spring Lamb, Carrot Dumplings & Blueberry Sauce
Yay! Here they are, the first sunbeams with a promise to stick around for a while – a sign that May truly has arrived~! It’s one of my favorite months of the year since mother nature is doing her best to provide us with the best of two seasons during this month! Spring veggies and herbs, re-opened season on game, veal, lamb and various sea creatures locked in fence months up until now as well as the first bunch of summer berries and fruit!

Red Chicken and Mango Curry
Ugh… the dark side of spring just popped me a good one… normally, people catch themselves a cold when the temperatures are on their way down the scale. I on the other hand, evidently unable to stick to the norm in this area, have to take the gravelly path and go down with a case of the nasties when the first wave of warmth is rolling across the country.
GW2 Celebratory Steak a.k.a Beef Wellington
Wooooh! Today, we celebrate, we feast, we drink! A historic event has come to pass! Nahdala’s Kitchen went live exactly one year ago, today~! What a perfect day to share a dish perfectly capable of defining the term “Crowd Pleaser” – a classic Beef Wellington with you guys. And the perfect opportunity to re-define a dish off of the Tyrian Menu accordingly.

Winter-Island Mussels
Right now, I’m sitting at a small coffee-table in a cute little house peeking out from under a comfy reed-cap, listening to the crashing storm-chased waves of the North Sea rolling in just behind the dam. The time for our traditional winter-vacay on Germany’s northernmost island, Sylt, has arrived. When my parents started heading out this way in the dead of winter on a regular basis, I honestly thought something else was going on – secret trips to the Caribbean came to mind – because… who in their right mind would travel to the main land’s icy-sea-storm-barrier at that time of the year? Right…?
GW2 Venison Fillets, Cowberry Sauce and Chestnut Gnocchi
As usual, when there’s a new event, festival or chapter of the living story sending the adventuring lives of Tyia’s citizens spinning, hubby and I all but lock ourselves in and enjoy a proper gaming-spree. Our adventures through “A Crack in the Ice” however was rudely interrupted by me running off like a headless chicken, sent on a delicious mission by the Winterberry Bushes dotting the Bitterfrost Frontier and the related “Steak and Winterberry” recipe a friendly Quaggan sold us to go right with the freshly harvested berries.

Veal & Pear Parcels with Gorgonzola Sauce
It’s Hubby-Special-Day today~! If you’re cooking for more hungry tummies than just your own on a regular basis, you might find yourself cooking up two different dishes for a meal every once in a while. While hubby and I generally enjoy the same things when it comes to kitchen-related goodies, there are, of course, a couple of things one of us likes while the other one wouldn’t touch it with a pitchfork.

GW2 Polpette alla Fiorentina, Tyrian Style – or simply: Pasta & Meatballs
The Tyrian Chef’s Guild strikes again! Once more, the delicious library at my cooking station in Lion’s Arch compelled me to tackle a dish along the “Classic” lines~ I suppose this one sounds very familiar to… well everyone, the term “Meatball Spaghetti“ buzzing around in heads around the world on autopilot. Classic italian dish… right? Wait, what’s that… that rattling noise… Oh, yes, that’s a horde of Risen, italian chefs no less, aiming to hit you over the head with rusty frying pans without further ado.
