Thanks to an idea the Tyrian Menu planted into my head, I recently decided to exorcise a childhood demon, a dark and stomach-curdling culinary specter straight from my personal nightmarish depths of badly-made-desserts-hell. Chocolate-Bananas. Whenever I skim over that one while browsing the recipe list at my Chef’s Station in Lion’s Arch, I can’t decide whether to shiver in delight or disgust. On some level I never forgot that chocolates and bananas are a wonderful match – the instinct to shy away from it used to have far more punch to it, flooring the flickering desire to give it a chance after all these years within a heartbeat.

GW2 Polpette alla Fiorentina, Tyrian Style – or simply: Pasta & Meatballs
The Tyrian Chef’s Guild strikes again! Once more, the delicious library at my cooking station in Lion’s Arch compelled me to tackle a dish along the “Classic” lines~ I suppose this one sounds very familiar to… well everyone, the term “Meatball Spaghetti“ buzzing around in heads around the world on autopilot. Classic italian dish… right? Wait, what’s that… that rattling noise… Oh, yes, that’s a horde of Risen, italian chefs no less, aiming to hit you over the head with rusty frying pans without further ado.

GW2 Mini Mushroom Pizzas
You know, the Chef’s Guild has this, sometimes rather annoying, way to get under my skin in a slightly brainwash’y manner. That’s not really a bad thing, just really inconvenient at times – I suppose every foodie has a dish they can’t get out of their head to save their lives at times, though. Seeing all the tasty pizza recipes on the Tyrian menu has always bothered me in that way – sure, I usually go low-carb, low-fat and all that jazz, but even in a carefully monitored, healthy and balanced diet, there’s a time for everything, including a yummy, homemade – and still somewhat healthy! – pizza.
GW2 Eggs Beetletun & Ascalonian Salad
Happy New Year! I hope you guys had a blast welcoming 2017~! If you had the kind of party we had, your tummy and your head might just feel a bit on the fuzzy side of things, just like mine do… I have to admit, I never had a “real”, movie’esque hangover, so I can’t give any educated expert advice on the usual hangover-foods, but as a general rule of thumb, listening to your stomach never hurts when something’s amiss. Doing exactly that with my head in the fridge resulted – to everyone’s surprise – in me whipping up an omelette, something I haven’t done in years.

GW2 Chocolate-Cherry Truffles
Chocolate and cherries are one of those winning teams in the culinary world – both in this world as well as in Tyria. When I first came across the Tyrian “Chocolate Cherry” on the Guild’s menu, my annual winter-chocolate-box related chocolate-and-butter-sticky-fest popped into my head without further ado. I couldn’t think around it to save my life at that point, so I decided to embrace the brainfreeze and, at some point, share one of my signature chocolates with you guys~

Oh yes! December, winter, a “real” one no less! Unlike the last couple of “winters” it’s cold and dry enough to actually justify the mere existence of hot spiced wine on a christmas market – and to make the prospect of a wonderfully aromatic and comforting stew waiting for you at home a really good reason to look forward to the end of the day.

GW2 Infused Vinegars
After my discovery of the one and lonely bottle of Vegetable Oil in my ingredients tab that led to last week’s Infused Oils, I couldn’t help but look further down the list to find… exactly one type of vinegar. Rice Vinegar, what a shame! A huge world of aromas limited to one kind… one with not much of a bouquet at that. I don’t think I could live with that on this side of the screen – while I only use about 3 different oils on a somewhat regular basis, my vinegar collection is a rather large one. I like that special zing here and there, what can I say~
GW2 Infused Oils
My favorite time of the winter months has arrived! On and off the screen, the weeks before Christmas are something I really look forward to. On screen, my favorite Tyrian festival of the year is due to arrive soon – that impulse to stare up into the skies and search for the Infinitarium… Wintersday really makes me feel like a little kid sometimes! – off the screen I’m having a blast filling gift boxes for everyone I know with homemade yummies straight from my kitchen. Lots of chocolates, of course, but other things like chutneys, spice blends, preserves and the like as well.
GW2 Blueberry Cookies
As cold and gray november, giving his best to make us stay indoors, continues on, I get the distinct feeling that something to remind us of warmer, friendlier days is in order… A while back I found an unexplained Blueberry Cookie in my mailbox back in Tyria, sent to me by a Guild mate who, as I’ve found out by now, was going through the motions of unlocking and collecting any and all recipes for his Cooking Station. Now, there’s a bright, light, fluffy and yummy idea~!
GW2 Steamed Curry Buns
The Curry returns! As I’ve mentioned last week, this week’s dish is a follow-up involving curry-leftovers – or a curry specifically made for this type of snack, if the need arises. Basically, these yummy, juicy buns work with every type of curry’esque leftovers.
